Taylor Swift Performs on "Today" and Song Review
May 31, 2009
Taylor Swift performed several songs at NBC’s “Today” show Friday morning to a packed crowd in Rockefeller Plaza, New York City. Swift is currently the most popular musician in county music.
She’s only 19, but she’s helped compose songs for other musicians and many of her own songs, which is something the Nashville music executives rarely let any performer do. Her 2006 self-titled debut album sold over three million copies in the U.S. Her current album Fearless has sold over 2 million copies and was the Billboard 200 number one album for eleven weeks. Her hit singles from Fearless are “Love Story,” “White Horse” and now “You Belong With Me.”
She has some really good stories on her latest album Fearless, including the current single, “You Belong With Me.” It has a chorus with lyrical movement, which is pretty uncommon – usually most choruses are the same words repeated. In this song it really helps the progression of the song and helps further illustrate the concept of Taylor Swift comparing herself to another “more popular” girl. It has an interesting melody as well, which hold’s the listener’s attention. Overall, it’s better than the majority of the songs on the radio currently. She’s sure to have another top 10 hit with this song.
