Fergie has mentioned her same-sex relationships again just in time for the release of her new song and album with her band Black Eyed Peas.
Fergie told The Sun’s Simon Rothstein Monday, “Put it this way, I’ve experimented definitely, but I have never had a steady girlfriend.”
Fergie said, “You’ll like our next video for I Got A Feeling, [gic] because I have a little girl-on-girl tease section of the video. I met the girls right before we did the scene. They were beautiful. They were hot. One of them was the director’s girlfriend - so he was happy!”
This interview is not the only time Fergie’s spoken about bisexuality, lesbian relationships or same-sex attractions, but of course the American media can rarely remember anything they’ve reported on in past years, or they don’t want to remember, so they act as if it’s breaking news again. I guess it pays to pretend you have breaking news from old news you’ve reported on before.
The reason Fergie decided to mention her bisexuality to Rothstein was for monetary reasons, of course. It seems no one in the entertainment industries ever just has a conversation with a journalist when they’re not specifically promoting something. Fergie’s promoting “I Got a Feeling” the day after “Boom Boom Pow” reached number one on the U.K. singles chart. It’s the new music video and second commercial single for her band, Black Eyed Peas.
In the past Fergie has spoken about her same-sex attractions to promote other projects, such as when she played a lesbian character in Quentin Tarantino’s movie Grindhouse.
For Grindhouse’s promotion, she spoke to the U.K.’s The Mirror in April 2007. She said that when she turned 18, she went on a “wild sex and drug spree” rebelling against a Catholic upbringing.
She said, “I have had lesbian experiences in the past. But I started having sex quite late on –after I was 18. I was raised a good Catholic girl. I won’t say how many men I have slept with, although it’s not many, but I’m a very sexual person.”
34 year old Fergie married “Las Vegas” actor Josh Duhamel in January. Even if she's exploiting herself, at least she's honest and confident, and maybe it will help other people.
