Jay Leno's Last "Tonight Show"

June 1, 2009

Jay Leno handed “The Tonight Show” torch to Conan O’Brien Friday evening. Leno was the show’s host for 17 years.

59-year-old Leno said he wanted to be remembered for his staff’s kids who were born during his 17-year at the show. He even posed with all 68 of the kids.

"That's what I'd like my legacy to be," he said. "When these kids grow up and they go, 'Hey, mom and dad, where did you guys meet?', they're going to say they met on the stage of ‘The Tonight Show.’"

Conan O’Brien began “The Tonight Show” tonight.

Leno will begin a new 10:00 pm show in several months on NBC called “The Jay Leno Show.”
