"American Idol" Winner Is Kris Allen

Kris Allen won “American Idol” beating out Adam Lambert tonight. Lambert was thought to be the shoe-in because he had more votes than other contestants in the past weeks.

However, because Danny Gokey was eliminated last week, the fans voting for him might have shifted their votes this week to Allen who acts and sings in a more similar fashion to Gokey than Lambert.

Geography may have helped Allen since five past Idol winners have been from Southern states. Allen is from Conway, AR vs. Lambert is from San Diego, CA.

The show finale lasted over two hours and was filled with guest celebrities. Ryan Seacrest said just under 100 million votes were made. Simon Cowell refused to join the other judges in giving Allen a standing ovation.

The performances included: All 13 finalists singing Pink’s “So What” in white clothing; David Cook singing “Permanent;" Queen Latifa singing "Cue the Rain" with Lil Rounds; Megan Joy and Michael Sarver dueting “Pretty Flowers” with Steve Martin playing a banjo; Allison Iraheta singing “Time After Time” with Cyndi Lauper; Adam Lambert singing “Beth” with Kiss; Kris Allen singing “Kiss a Girl” with Keith Urban; Bikini Girl came to the show in a bikini and with new fake breasts, started singing Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love,” and judge Kara DioGuardi came out, finished the song and ripped open her black dress to show her black bikini underneath; the 13 finalists singing with Carlos Santana, the finalists singing “I’m Yours” with Jason Mraz; Danny Gokey with Lionell Richie; the last seven men singing “Do You Think I’m Sexy” with Rod Stewart; the last five women singing Fergie’s “Glamorous;” Fergie singing “Big Girls Don’t Cry;” Black Eyed Peas singing “Boom Boom Pow,” and “Idol” censored something from it; Allen, Lambert and Queen singing “We Are the Champions.”

Both finalists of “Idol” taped Disney commercials with the famous sentence, “I’m going to Disney World” and sang “When You Wish Upon a Star” in it. The winner, Allen had his version of the commercial air after the show.
