This month the second unidentified carcass known as the Montauk Monster washed up on the shores of Montauk, NY. The first one was in July 2008 at a popular surfing beach in the Montauk area.
On May 5 a couple found the carcass on the North Fork area of Long Island. They put the carcass in a cooler with ice, brought it to Southold, NY, and called Nicky Papers, a woman who operates a website about the Montauk Monster.
Papers believes the Montauk Monsters may be genetic debacles from the nearby Plum Island Animal Disease Center. She said that that organization is where Lyme disease originated from. Some people believe the monsters may be some type of dog or pig relative.
