This morning, Dolly Parton received an honorary PhD of Humane and Musical Letters form the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Dolly joked, “When people say something about ‘Double-D,’ they will be thinking of something entirely different.”
The 1,069 graduates at the College of Arts and Sciences’ commencement ceremony gave Parton a standing ovation.
Her degree is one of only two honorary degrees ever awarded by the University of Tennessee. It is to celebrate her music and advocacy for education.
Dolly's newest album Backwoods Barbie is really great. She independently finances and markets it through her music label, Dolly Records. All of the songs have interesting lyrics and melodies.
Editor's song pick: "Shinola"
