Obama Honors Steelers
May 21, 2009
This afternoon, President Obama honored the Pittsburgh Steelers for their Super Bowl win at the White House lawn.
The Steelers and Obama spent time meeting with U.S. service people and creating care-packages for overseas troops.
Steelers fan Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Pennsylvania’s two Democratic senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey joined the meeting.
Obama named long-time Republican Steelers owner Dan Rooney U.S. ambassador to Ireland in March after he had campaigned for Obama during his presidential run.
Linebacker James Harrison did not attend the ceremony. He did not attend in June 2006 either when George Bush honored the Steelers.
