J.T. Voted as "Survivor" Winner
May 17, 2009
Tonight, twenty-four-year-old cattle rancher James “J.T.” Thomas became the million dollar winner “Sole Survivor” of “Survivor: Tocantins.” He beat runner-up Stephen Fishbach with a unanimous vote from the jury.
J.T.’s unanimous win is only the second one in "Survivor"’s nine years and 18 seasons. He also won a viewer’s voting contest that awarded him an extra $100,000.
J.T. won the final three individual immunity challenges, which gave him an edge over the other three finalists. Stephen and J.T. were in an alliance since the second day of the contest.
One of the highlights of the finale show was that Benjamin “Coach” Wade revealed he took a polygraph test to prove his wild adventure story of rafting down the Amazon River and being captured by indigenous people was true. Several of his fellow competitors said they still did not believe him.
The 19th season of “Survivor” will take place in Samoa.
