Mariah Carey's New Album
May 22, 2009
Mariah announced on her Twitter page Wednesday that her next album will be titled Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.
She tweeted, “Bcuz [sic ] I Love U [sic], I want u [sic] to be the first to know the title of my new album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” [no period] Its [gic] very personal & dedicated to u.”
I am a fan, and it sounds like an interesting title, but Mariah is definitely not an angel or even an imperfect one. However, for some delusional reason she has a notion in her head that she’s a goody-two-shoes and has called herself “Mary Poppins” in the past.
A goody-two-shoes doesn’t wear clothing like she does and doesn’t reference marijuana and getting drunk in songs, such as in “It’s Like That” and “I’m That Chick,” among a number of other ones.
Mariah also said on Twitter that she’s cutting some songs with Timbaland, which is probably a good idea for her. He’s very in-tune with what the music-buying public currently wants. Hopefully, she gets a new A&R person – they would help with the artistic direction of the music and public image. Many fans commented that the current album E=MCsquared needed more up-tempo songs like its, “Migrate,” “O.O.C.” and “Touch My Body” and less like the 80s R&B ballad sounding “I Stay In Love” and “Last Kiss,” which make up the majority of the album.
Carey announced this week that she has also written the theme song “100 Percent” for her forthcoming independent film Precious. The movie is based on the novel, Push by Sapphire and was named the same until the action movie Push was released several months ago.
