The Flaming Lips's New Album
May 22, 2009
Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips announced this month that their new album will be available to market in the late summer. It will be a double-album. I'm excited about this one.
Coyne said to Billboard Magazine, “I think with this there was an element of accidentally stumbling upon more spontaneous sort of freak-out stuff."
He said their album will have a response song to John Lennon’s “Instant Karma” called “I Don’t Understand Karma.”
The Flaming Lips will probably reference battling against the powerful people/forces and probably a number of songs with nonspecific characters being mentioned, such as in “The Sound of Failure.”
They will be touring in Australia, Europe and the United States starting in June.
In order to be whores for their major record label, Warner Bros., The Flaming Lips sang Madonna’s “Borderline” on the company’s new compilation album Covered, A Revolution in Sound: Warner Bros. Records.
