Saturday, University of California Berkeley held its graduation ceremonies. Approximately 10,000 undergraduate and graduate degrees were awarded.
The college is ranked number one best public university in the world and one of the top 20 best universities in the world.
Keynote speaker author, stockbroker and philanthropist Chris Gardner spoke about how he once had to sleep on Berkeley’s campus as a homeless man. He is a self-made millionaire and owns his own stockbrokerage firm in Chicago. The 2006 movie The Pursuit of Happyness [sic] with Will Smith was about Gardner's life, trying to raise a toddler son and searching for work as a stockbroker while being homeless. Gardner received an honorary degree and a standing ovation from the crowd at Berkeley's Greek Theatre.
