Fashion and Stars Meet the Met: Costume Inst. Gala

Yesterday, May 6, the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened its newest exhibit, “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion.”

It was preceded by Monday night’s high-profile opening reception, the Costume Institute Gala, held at the museum New York City. It traditionally features over-the-top fashion on the press-line and numerous celebrities. The event was co-sponsored by Kate Moss, Justin Timberlake, Marc Jacobs, Harold Koda, co-curator of the Costume Institute, and Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue. Annually, the theme of the exhibit inspires both fashion for the gala and for the year.

Famous guests to the event included Bono, Madonna, Tyra Banks, Gisele Bundchen, Tom Brady, Heidi Klum, Bruce Willis, Rihanna, Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry, Eva Longoria, Kate Hudson, Liv Tyler, "Gossip Girl"'s Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Keifer Sutherland and Renee Zellweger.

The new exhibit is honoring models and fashion from 1947 to 1997. 1947 is considered the year the industry took-off because of the formation of Ford Models, the leading modeling agency.

It features haute couture and ready-to-wear along with photography and video of models who defined their fashion eras.

The Marc Jacobs sponsored exhibit will run until August 9 (Metropolitan Museum of Art, metmuseum.org).

Back and Forth with Pink's Bisexual Attractions

Several months ago on October 9, 2008 in Now Magazine, musician, Pink said, "I'm not gay so I guess I wouldn't try a relationship with a woman. I didn't say I haven't experimented [with women] but I love men too much to make it a permanent thing."

However, it seems Pink claims to have been misquoted in the new May 2 article by Dan Wootton of the British magazine, News of the World. She's quoted as saying, "I'm not embarrassed about being bisexual. This is who I am, what I feel. I think it's unnecessary to draw the subject out, but I think it's even more stupid not to discuss it. It seems as if bisexuality is a trend and I should whip up the masses. Well, I don't believe in trends, [gic] I just believe in me."

When asked about recently trying to reconcile with her freestyle motocross racer ex-husband, Carey Hart, she was quoted as saying, "I would also be just as happy with a new women [sic]. I'm not complicated, [gic] I sing about love in all its shapes, forms and colours. My love knows no color, no gender, no fuss [gic]. I speak my mind, I sing about everyday stuff such as homosexuality and sadly the homophobia that always comes with it." (Wootton, http://www.notw.co.uk/)

However, the U.S. news did not seem to pick up the story until yesterday afternoon, and within hours of the American media reporting on it, one of Pink's representatives said the News of the World article was false.

Editorial Note: The U.S. celebrity news outlets are so moronic and do so little research that they act as if this is brand new news. As shown here, this topic pertaining to Pink is not new, and there is photographic evidence.

On May 2, Pink "tweeted" on her Twitter page, "i [gic] just read that im [sic] bisexual. so [gic] 1991. good [gic] thing people write articles about me so i [gic] can get my facts str8. i mean straight. read on people [no period] cant [gic] WAIT for the day when people stop talking about sexual preference or that a woman is a CEO and actually start making the world LIVEABLE [no period]"

On October 11, 2003, Pink danced and kissed Terminator 3 actress, Kristanna Loken at Jimmyz nightclub in Monte Carlo, Monaco while they were there for the World Music Awards as reported by The Daily Mirror on October 13, 2003 (The Daily Mirror). It seems that Pink did actually speak to Dan Wootton, the reporter for News of the World, and he has a picture posted on his website with her. However, it is the editorial opinion of Peoplemagazinedaily.com that Pink either did not say the things that were quoted in News of the World, or she did say them along with other information that was excluded from the article, and she did not like that Wootton's main subject for the article was her sexuality.

Wolverine's Number One

This weekend's official U.S. movie box office results from Box Office Mojo puts X-Men Origins: Wolverine at number one with a gross of $85,058,003. The Hugh Jackman movie is being played in 4099 theaters.

Matthew McConaughey'sGhosts of Girlfriends Past is number two with a gross of $15,411,434 in 3175 theaters. Beyonce Knowles's Obsessed is number three with a gross of $12,052,151 in 2514 theaters, number four is Zac Efron's 17 Again with a gross of $6,361,358 in 3255 theatres, and number five is Monsters vs. Aliens with with a gross of $5,803,429 in 2626 theatres.

Number six is The Soloist, number seven is Earth, number eight is Hannah Montana: The Movie, number nine is Fighting and number ten is State of Play. Interestingly, the number 98 movie is A Secret with a gross of $266 in one theater.

Mel Gibson Enters The Dumbass Club

Mel Gibson seems worthy of being a member of The Dumbass Club. He claims to be devoutly religious, and yet his conduct is so undesirable that even his ex-mistress wants to see him pay for his past dishonesty.

Gibson's ex-mistress, comedian Diana Alouise says in her recent interview to Globe that she will help Gibson's wife if needed, “If she [Robyn] had to prove that he [Mel] cheated on her to get the settlement, then I would help her. I would stand up in court and do what I needed to do."

Alouise claims that she would not have dated Gibson in the 1980s if he was honest about his marital status. She claims to have dated him for six months but broke up with him after she realized he was still married and did not have plans to divorce his wife.

She says, "He [Gibson] told me he was married but that technically he wasn't with his wife anymore. I didn’t really have any reason to believe otherwise. We had a hot love affair based on sex, alcohol and partying, but it never would have happened if I had known the truth.”

Robyn Gibson’s recent divorce filing came after Mel was photographed on vacation in Costa Rica with some Russian woman that doesn’t deserve to have her name publicly mentioned.

To further cement his membership of The Dumbass Club, he walked the press line this Tuesday at the Los Angeles movie premiere for X-Men Origins: Wolverine holding hands with the Russian woman, which was just two weeks after Robyn filed for divorce.

The Russian woman is signed to Gibson’s “record label,” Icon Records and has supposedly been dating him for three years. Robyn Gibson said in court papers the couple separated in August 2006; one month after Mel was arrested for his highly publicized DUI. His Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department mug shot is displayed above.

Gibson who claims to be devoutly Christian spent $28 million constructing the Holy Family Catholic Church in Malibu, California. His church community is so conservative that they were excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church.

Michelle Obama's Haute Couture Tennis Shoes

Why is Michelle Obama wearing $540 tennis shoes to feed poor people?

While volunteering at a Washington D.C. food bank on Wednesday, Michelle Obama showed all the poor people her frugal sensibilities during the recession by sporting a pair of $540 flat-soled tennis shoes.

Obama's shoes are created by the French fashion company, Lanvin. They are gray suede with metallic pink toe caps. These new shoes are so popular among the wealthy, they have sold out in many high end stores in major U.S. cities.

When reporters questioned Obama's representatives about the expensive shoes they snidely commented, "They're shoes."

Last week Obama wore a chiffon top from the same fashion line to dig holes at a down-and-dirty tree planting session. Their tops range from $400 to $1000. Not exactly the price most people would pay for a gardening shirt, but she is the First Lady of the States.

Ellen DeGeneres and Kanye West are also fans of this brand. West has noted so in his blogging rants recently.

Rihanna and Katy Perry "Kissed a Girl" or More

According to radio host, Wendy Williams, some people who are friends with and work with Rihanna are stating that she has engaged in same-sex sexual behavior and "is in fact a lesbian or at least bisexual."

She has been known to have some type of relationship with "I Kissed a Girl" musician, Katy Perry. Perry publicly identifies as bisexual and kisses girls at her concerts, as well as other places. Last week they were vacationing together in Puerto Rico and have been hanging around each other often at clubs throughout April.

“Katy was there when Rihanna needed her the most and as terrible as the stuff with Chris [Brown] is, at least one good thing has come of it," a friend tells the Sun. “Both of them have had man troubles recently so they are enjoying having some girlie time.”

Wendy Williams explains on her radio show and blog that she, "never thought Rihanna was 100% straight. In fact, all of these girls nowadays have dabbled in the lesbian realm. Every other girl from 13 up is gay these days."

Rihanna's Dad Says No Brown

Rihanna’s dad, Ronald Fenty, said today that his daughter and her allegedly abusive musician boyfriend, Chris Brown, are no longer dating.

The popular hip hop musician has not yet spoken about her dating relationship with Brown.

Brown recently pleaded “not guilty” to felony charges of assault and making criminal threats from his altercation with Rihanna hours before the Grammy Awards in February.

Duffy Nominated for Three Ivors

Duffy was nominated in three categories for the forthcoming Ivor Novello Awards that reward excellence in British songwriting.

Duffy was nominated for the following: PRS for Music Most Performed Work - "Mercy;" Best-Selling British Song - "Mercy;" Album Award - Rockferry.

The 54th annual Ivor Novello awards will be televised from Grosvenor House in London on Thursday, May 21.

Charting with Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Rick Ross and Miley Cyrus

Today the Black Eyed Peas's song, "Boom Boom Pow" stays as the number one song in the United States for the second week. It has charted on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart for seven weeks.

Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" is number two for the second week. Her song was number one two weeks ago. Her album, The Fame is also number one on the European album charts, Top 100 Albums, for the first week. "Poker Face" is the number one song on the Eurochart Hot 100 for its ninth week.

Hip Hop musician, Rick Ross's album Deeper than Rap debuts at number one on the Billboard 200 Album chart for the third time in his career, selling 158,000 copies. His album bumped Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack to number two on the chart. The Miley Cyrus album sold 104,000 copies this week.

Fallon Fouls Up

On this morning's episode of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," Fallon explained an odd run-in with Arista and J Records founder, Clive Davis.

Fallon was in an unidentified restaurant in New York City Monday, April 29 where he bumped into Davis in the men's bathroom. Davis leaned toward Fallon, and Fallon thinking he was going to kiss him, kissed Davis. Davis, left a bit surprised, had only wanted to whisper something to Fallon.

Fallon stated on his show, "I felt like an idiot; my apologies to Clive Davis."

Fallon became the new host of the TV show, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" on March 2, 2009 after Conan O'Brien left "Late Nite with Conan O'Brien" to host "The Tonight Show," which will be handed off from Jay Leno to O'Brien in June.

Mariah Carey's London Hotel "Worldwide Scandal"

According to Mariah Carey's friend, Jasmine Dotiwala, head of MTV Base in the U.K. and a reporter for The Voice Online, she and Carey hung-out at Claridge's Hotel in London the week of April 1. After only three hours of sleep in their hotel room, Carey woke and played Dotiwala some new songs from her forthcoming album.

Dotiwala said, "We listened to the new music in a manner that I have never been treated to before. It was different, slightly naughty and millions of her fans would’ve loved to see through my eyes at that moment. But if I revealed what we did, there would be a worldwide scandal! What happens in a London hotel room, stays in a London hotel room! I heard a variety of tracks, and there were big ballads, catchy melodic hooks, hilarious and witty wordplay, and clever lines galore.'" Source: The Voice Online

What that quote means we may never know for sure, but there are only a couple things Generation X-ers would consider "slightly naughty" - drug-use; same-sex sexual acts; stripping; general raunchiness or a combination of all of these things. I guess we can leave it up to our imaginations. Although, in the past Carey has claimed to tolerate, if not outright use drugs and has seemingly made references to same-sex attractions.

She told FHM magazine, "I don't think Snoop smokes cigarettes. It may be smoky around Snoop but that isn't cigarettes, and cigarette smoke is the worst smoke for your voice. Rappers smoke things that don't seem to bother my throat." Online Source: Fazed

Snoop Dogg's most highly publicized arrest was on Nov. 28, 2006 outside the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in Burbank, CA. He was booked for investigation of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and cocaine, transporting marijuana and having a false compartment in his car, according to the police department. Carey also referenced her past smoking habit (unknown substance) to a Groove Magazine journalist that was reported by MSNBC on Aug. 28, 2005: “'It’s true. The two lowest octaves are probably there because of the smoking,' a champagne-sipping Carey told Swedish mag Groove, according to a translation. 'But of course it’s not good to smoke. I always had a cold and constant throatache.' So she quit, she said. 'One day I promised God that if he would give me my voice back I would never smoke again.
